** Queensland medics closely monitoring court case of French backpacker who attacked female paramedic

** Missouri EMT in trouble after allegedly sneaking teen into station for sex

AUSTRALIA NEWS

** Queensland paramedics in Cairns will likely return to an area courthouse November 21st to attend the sentencing hearing for a French backpacker who assaulted a female medic last month. That is the word from The Cairns Post (Grace Mason/October 20) which said Timothee Leon Laurent Rousselle, 21, appeared in court last Wednesday in relation to the hostel attack. According to his lawyer, Rousselle will plead guilty to seriously assaulting a public officer. Some 40 EMS representatives staged a picket outside Wednesday’s hearing. United Voice union spokesman Jen Miran said the practitioners are committed to ensuring that the legal process adequately disciplines Rousselle. She also said medics want to send a message to the public that such attacks will no longer be tolerated. Rousselle remains out on bail until the hearing, but has surrendered his passport in the interim.

UNITED STATES NEWS

** Criminal charges could be pending against a Missouri EMT who allegedly snuck a female teenager into his fire station in order to have sex with her. KCTV (October 21) said authorities in Claycomo are continuing to investigate the case against the unnamed 24-year-old who allegedly used the Whisper app to find the girl and then Uber to bring her to him. According to the news site, the bizarre scenario grew even more strange when the girl went to a nearby McDonald’s after being left alone at the station when the EMT was called out. Because she somehow managed to hurt her arm at the restaurant, the same EMT then transported her to hospital in his ambulance. Both police and the man’s employer are keeping mum on the investigation. However, authorities have said they requested a search warrant to examine the man’s Uber account.
