** A Florida paramedic from Orange County continues to recover in hospital after being run over by the irate husband of a woman she tried to help. That is the word from WFLA (AP/April 20) which said Caroline Dorton, who was off duty at the time, heard hails for help from a parking lot Sunday as she was dining at a Chili’s restaurant. Discovering Chericia Brown on the asphalt after she had been stabbed several times, Dorton immediately began rendering EMS assistance. According to the news site, a nurse also attempted to render aid, but both were hit by Brown’s husband’s car as he rammed them. Chericia Brown died, while her spouse Harry committed suicide. He also murdered their two young children. Though specifics of Dorton’s injuries have not been disclosed, she remains in critical condition in hospital.
** A Texas EMT from Rusk County is dead after a Wednesday morning accident on US 259. NewsWest19 (Kerri Compton/April 20) said Henderson resident Joseph Daniel Stringer, 34, died around 7 a.m. after he lost control of his car, left the highway, and hit a tree. Wet roads are believed to have been a factor. Stringer was not wearing a seatbelt at the time.
