** Massachusetts man arrested for dressing as EMT to aid in felon’s escape
UNITED STATES NEWS
** Massachusetts police in Gardner have charged a 75-year-old man with impersonating a police officer and aiding a felon after he dressed as an EMT to try to help a former EMS owner from escaping police custody. That is the word from MyFoxBoston (Kathryn Burcham/March 22) which said William Lessor was arrested Friday after attempting his ruse at the North Central Correction Institution. According to the news site, police had intercepted a prison conversation in which former New England Ambulance owner Antonio Zappa told Lessor to wear an EMS uniform to illegally pick him up on March 18th. Lessor apparently did as requested, garbing himself with a reflective jacket and deputy EMS chief badge. Lessor unsuccessfully attempted to remove Zappa from the jail by saying he was escorting him to a federal court. Zappa, meanwhile, was taken into federal custody on a 36 month term for defrauding 20 people of nearly $7 million dollars. His EMS company shut down after his conviction for stealing several thousand dollars from a disabled man. There is no word on Lessor’s next court date.
