AUSTRALIA NEWS
** A Western Australia ambulance volunteer has been charged with making a phony 000 call that resulted in a massive callout of emergency services. The Herald Sun (Phil Hickey/July 23) said the 38-year-old St. John medic placed the help hail for an MVA Sunday. According to the newspaper, the man said one person was trapped in a vehicle near Collie. Although St. John Ambulance medics were dispatched around 4:30 p.m. alongside a rescue helicopter and fire personnel, no car accident scene was ever found. The medic, who assisted in the bogus search, has been charged with creating a false belief. He is set to appear in Collie Magistrates Court August 14.
