** UK air ambulance taken out of service after yobs attack EMS crew

** UK medic hit by quad during call in serious condition in hospital

** Police in Kent have taken two youths into custody after the duo both harassed and attacked an air EMS crew. The BBC (May 24) said the Sunday afternoon incident played out when the chopper landed near Sevenoaks to attend an injured baby. According to the news site, police were called after the yobs were seen hanging from the tail fin and the pilot’s door. When confronted, one of the teens grabbed the pilot by the throat. Police arrested a 19-year-old and a 17-year-old in relation to the incident. The helicopter, meanwhile, was immediately taken out of service, leaving the infant to be transported by ground personnel.

** An Essex paramedic remains in serious condition in hospital after being hit by a quad rider while attempting to attend a patient Sunday. The BBC (May 24) said the practitioner, 56, was at Southend-on-Sea when the bike rebounded off two cars before striking him. According to the news site, both he and the rider were transported to hospital. Police have indicated the provider suffered several broken bones and underwent surgery. Two Rainham men, meanwhile, were arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving.
