Kelvington EMS medics in Saskatchewan participate in Prevent Alcohol and Risk Related Trauma in Youth event May 14.

Rose Valley EMS, Kelvington EMS, Kelvington Fire, Greenwater RCMP, Kelvington Hospital, Narfason’s Funeral Chapel and Crematorium, and East Central SARBI (Saskatchewan Association for the Rehabilitation of the Brain Injured) held the 2nd annual P.A.R.T.Y. (Prevent Alcohol and Risk Related Trauma in Youth) event.

The event involved the grade ten classes of Kelvington and Rose Valley High Schools bearing witness to a mock accident scene with one survivor and one fatality.  Following the on scene extrication and transport of the patient, the youths were divided into three groups to witness the events which can occur after the accident including, hospitalization and emergency treatments, funeral preparation, and acquired brain injury rehabilitation.  Many of the students found the event to be exceptionally enlightening.
