** Montreal paramedics reject labour deal

** Texas medics leave medical waste in man’s front yard

CANADA NEWS

** Montreal medics are apparently not out of the woods yet when it comes to their labour contract. That is the word from The Monteal Gazette (Max Harrold/December 12) which said practitioners have rejected an agreement in principle with Urgences Sante. According to the newspaper, 52.1 per cent of providers voted against the deal Tuesday night and Wednesday morning. Workers have been without a contract since June of 2005.

UNITED STATES NEWS

** A San Antonio, Texas man is steaming mad after medics left some gloves and gauze on the lawn in front of his house. KENS Eyewitness News (James Munoz/December 12) said the Saturday incident, which played out in the city’s northwest side, saw the medical equipment abandoned after they attended a call at the site. Resident Richard Martin, who is also an EMT himself, said leaving the items outside is dangerous to the neighbourhood’s health. Martin said he contacted the city to complain, but was told to contact a cleaning company to get rid of the items. The refuse was finally cleaned up Tuesday. The t.v. station paid the $750 fee.
